Ethno-veterinary practices for camel diseases: A participatory assessment by the Raika pastoralist of Rajasthan

The camel is practically symbolic for western arid region of Rajasthan. This animal has the immense contribution to livelihood Raika pastoral community who a long relationship with this animal. Raikas followed their own traditional practices in all aspects rearing including healthcare since time immemorial. Therefore, present study was designed document and appraise ethno-veterinary by cure important diseases like trypanosomiasis, pox mange. A total 120 pastoralists were interviewed from six villages Pali Jodhpur district Rajasthan on an open ended interview schedule practices. Quantification Indigenous Knowledge (QuIK) applied participatory assessment identified using 10 three diseases. Use fruit Withania coagulans (stock) Dunal found be most effective among four control trypanosomiasis (surra). Accordingly, use neem leaves and; mixture turmeric, butter mustard oil perceived as highly mange, respectively.
